Somehow, cool customer partner Diane in "The Good Wife" has become mentor to Alicia. It was Diane's advice about bringing in new business which was how Alicia saved her job.
Last season ended with Alicia being torn between two lovers, neither of which is worthy of her. Callow Peter wants her to resume their marriage in every way, including supporting him in his comeback campaign. Her former law school buddy and current boss callow Will wants her to become part of his life. She cannot do both. That isn't Alicia. Also she has a job to keep and two teenagers to rear.
So, as the new season starts we all all wondering what Alicia will choose to do. Could Diane parachute in like a deux ex machina and advise Alicia to stay clear of Will and just put up with Peter until she builds her own book of business. Right now it's Peter's connections, such as with union officials, which are bringing in the new business to the law firm that she has to bring in. The law firm could tank within a year.
Diane, who was supposed to be a minor character, rose to prominence when her laughing episode was a hit on YouTube. A news anchor announced on the air that she was a closet lesbian. She burst out laughing. Soon enough we knew why as she pursued The Marlboro Man. It's Kalinda who is bisexual, or at least pretending to be. We have a hunch that she might be lesbian.
