In a lousy marketplace for young lawyers, there are still those in hot demand. Those are lawyers willing to focus on employment law.
We over-50 know well that the workplace has become Litigation Central. Our focus is possible age discrimination. Then there are many more who contend illegal treatment on the basis of gender or race. Plus there are the plain-vanilla complaints about being made to work through lunch breaks and getting stiffed for overtime.
The bottom line is that the traditional social contract between capital and labor has broken down. For us needing work that's an opportunity. If we present ourselves to employers, customers, and clients with the old enthusiasm and trust, we are more likely to stay making a very good living.
