Three strikes and you're out. So, I am taking myself out of the game of participating in anything associated with Generation Y. Not that I'm not turning this lemon into lemonade.
For one thing, the Gen Y rants on popular site GAWKER are driving plenty of traffic to my communications blog.
For another, by calling me in their comments an "old lady," I have accelerated my determination to keep earning a good buck, despite being, well, an "old lady." Betty White, Jane Fonda, and Hillary Clinton are also "old ladies."
And, third, as I said at the beginning I know now that I can't play in the Gen Y sandbox. Sure people tell me I look and act young. But the reality is that I am a Baby Boomer, two gens removed from Y.
Shakespeare gave the title "All's Well that Ends Well" to one of his comedies. In the spirit of comedy I am considering this ending well. The first flaming by Gen Y was on Mediabistro.com about six years ago. Four years ago, Gen Y flamed me on their Facebook sites and two of my blogs. Guess I get under their skin.
