Where there's no generational divide is on the sex front. Eighty percent of us Baby Boomers and Silent Generation are sexually active. According to the STUDENT BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL, among us Baby Boomers the rate of sexually transmitted diseases has doubled during the last decade.
One reason is that as we female age, our private parts can tear more easily, allowing in those nasties which carry STDs. Another reason could be that geezer heterosexual males, not wanting the entanglement of a relationship, contract business with prostitutes. The gay ones also hire younger men who might not care about safe sex. Here in the senior citizen complex where I live in New Haven, Connecticut, gossip crackles about both. Traditional love-bird kinds of encounters aren't on the radar screen.
Incidentally, human beings don't change as we age. In this 1400 unit development there is every type of character there had been in our youth, ranging from the tattle-tale to those who suck up to management to feel a sense of importance. This reality has discouraged me from planning to retire to a Buddhist temple. My acquaintances in California who do weekend retreats with the Buddhists tell me that I will run into the same God's Plenty there as I do shopping in Wal-Mart.
Thanks for this sex education.
